Asian style area rugs are from Persia, China and India; and the most common European styles are from Spain and Turkey. Main features of traditional style area rugs are Persian details like vines, flowers and scrollwork. Traditional rugs typically have inner boarders filled with intricate patterns, making them great for centering any space.

Modern Area Rugs

Modern area rugs are a great neutral design addition to your space. The key to decorating with a modern carpet is to let the rug complement your furniture and décor rather than overpower it.

Contemporary area rugs can make a bold statement with patterns or provide a nice backdrop for modern design spaces. They’re just as popular as traditional area rugs because of the variety of design options.

Transitional area rugs are another popular style. This kind combines both traditional and contemporary, creating a fresh, trendy look while still maintaining an old-world charm. Some transitional styles have floral patterns and boarders; muted color palettes and updated traditional patterns like distressed oriental motifs or large-scale vines and scroll work. This type of rug can bring interest to a room with highly traditional décor or add warmth to a modern, contemporary space.

Now that all the styles are broken down, it’s easy to see which area rug will fit best into your home design.

How to Maintain a Clean Carpet !

Carpet is a popular flooring choice for many households. It is soft, comfortable to stand on, and it adds a certain kind of warmth to your home. It does require some maintenance though, and keeping your carpet clean is the primary way to prolong its quality and ensure it is a long lasting part of your home. Here are some tips will help you keep your carpet clean.

Regular Vacuuming
Frequent vacuuming is a task you should be doing at least once or twice a week. If you have a busy household with pets or children, you may need to vacuum more frequently to keep your carpet looking nice. Vacuuming will rid the carpet of dusk, dirt, pet hair, and other unwanted particles. Doing this regularly with ensure there is less grime building up in the carpet, making your job easier in the long run.
Another great way to keep carpets clean is using a carpet cleaning powder. This can be sprinkled all over the floor, left overnight to soak up smells and dirt, and then vacuumed up in the morning. This is not a replacement for carpet washing, but is a good way to maintain cleanliness in between washings. It also keeps your floor smelling fresh.

How often should you wash your carpet?
Carpet washing really gets down to the root of the floor and washes away all the dirt that your vacuum couldn’t pick up. The carpet will need to be thoroughly washed at least once every year. If your carpets are light colored or prone to collecting dirt, you can have them professionally washed two to three times a year.
Professional cleaning versus home systems
One question many people struggle with is whether they should purchase their own carpet cleaning system or hire a professional to get a clean carpet. The cost of hiring a professional every year adds up quickly, and it isn’t cheap. However, nothing will get your carpets as clean as a professional team can so it is well worth the money.
If you have pets or your carpet is receives high traffic, you might consider purchasing your own carpet cleaner for touch ups throughout the year. They can be used once or twice a month, if needed. It is still recommended to have a professional come out once a year just to get everything clean.

How to remove stains
In between carpet washings, you’ll need to know how to deal with spills, stains and other unfortunate accidents. The first trick to follow is never rub at a stain. This just pushes it further into the grain and makes it impossible to fully clean. The best way to get rid of a stain is to gently blot it, from the outside toward the center.
Vinegar and club soda are a popular mixture that works on beer and wine stains. Simply spray the mixture onto the spill and let it sit for fifteen to twenty minutes. Then use the blotting technique to remove as much as you can. You will need to blot with warm warm to remove the vinegar and soda afterward.
The best general stain remover is regular old shaving cream. Apply the cream to the spot and allow it to rest for upwards of thirty minutes. Remove the cream, spray with vinegar, and blot away. This tip is great for all types of stains.

Follow these steps and your carpet will stay fresh and clean for many years to come. Simply adding these cleaning tips to your routine will result in a carpet that can withstand even the toughest wear and tear!

Carpet Provides Comfort for Your Home and Family !!

game

The mood of the house can definitely be felt by all it’s members. If I am in a bad mood and greet my husband when he comes home from work with a negative attitude, that attitude has a ripple effect throughout the home. The same can be said for your children. It’s important to create a warm environment that your family will want to come home to and be open to inviting their friends to. This means setting the tone with your attitude but it also means making sure your home is a warm place to land. I love flipping on the fireplace because as soon as I turn it on, people in my home gather near it. I flop on the floor nearby and usually have a kid or a dog snuggle in within minutes. When we were looking for homes, I know we kept homes with carpet on our radar. There is something about having carpet that brings a softness into your home making it warm and comfortable. Not only that, we are a noisy family and carpet helps to reduce the noise in our home and dampen the sounds that we make.

Why Carpet Is Your Best Friend !

Wall-to-wall carpeting adds warmth to a room that otherwise would feel very… well cold. When in a complementary and neutral color to the walls, can be a great backdrop to showcase the furniture. I honestly prefer carpeting in a bedroom. It is so nice to climb out of bed and have your feet sink into plush carpeting!

Carpet also adds style and personality to a room.
